Our History

Brodie Bicycles is entering it's 24th year in the bike industry and it all started with one man, Paul Brodie.

Paul started Brodie Research and Technology in 1986, manufacturing custom steel hardtail mountain bikes. The hard-core mountain bike was a different beast than it is now and Brodie frames and bikes were soon sought after in western Canada and the US, then in Europe, for being so progressive, unique and cutting edge. Early frames were the climbMax, Sovereign, eXpresso and Romax.

Custom hand-built Brodie frames are still built-to-order for the discerning rider, collector or plain old enthusiast who appreciates the high-performance, long-lasting, comfortable ride of cromoly.

CyberSport Ltd. assumed the worldwide distribution of Brodie bicycles in 1994. At that point five production models were offered as complete bikes, and the model lineup has expanded each year since. Production of aluminum models started appearing in 1998 and in 1999 the Holeshot was redesigned. The Holeshot with Easton Rad tubing lit a fire in the biking world as the first free-ride hardtail; hydraulic disc brakes, heavy-duty wheels with big tires and a long-travel fork (for that era) had heads turning. Although Brodie originally had been known as a custom, hand built cromoly steel hardtail company, we were fast becoming better known for our high performance bikes in all categories.

Brodie started designing/producing full suspension bikes in 1995, with the original Brodie ‘Libido’. Bikes like the “69’er”, Thumper, Diablo, Sauce, Dissident and Devo followed.

Brodie is a small bicycle company whose staff have varied cycling backgrounds in Cross Country, Downhill, Freeride, Touring/Commuting and Road Racing. As we enter our 22nd year of designing and manufacturing bicycles, the crew at Brodie is proud to continue offering exciting bikes tailored to meet the varying demands and interests of all riders everywhere!
